Taliban: The media is obliged to be committed to national and religious values

A Taliban spokesman says the media has a capacity to be neutral and committed to religious and national values.

Zabihullah Mujahid, deputy minister of information and culture and spokesman for the Taliban, wrote on his Twitter page that the Islamic Emirate is committed to media freedom and that the media is obliged to be neutral and committed to religious and national values.

“We are trying to remove barriers to the media, and we call on the media to abide by the media law,” he added.

According to him, reports and concerns in this regard are under investigation.

A Taliban spokesman made the remarks as he recently announced that the Media Violation Commission would be revived.

“We are trying to revive the Media Violation Commission, in order to prevent misunderstandings and resolve the problems that arise through it,” Mujahid said.

He also spoke about the media law in the country, saying that the previous media law is currently being used in all provinces, including the capital, and that all media outlets will be notified of any amendments.
