All women’s advocacy organizations were shut down in Nimroz

A number of women activists in Nimroz province say violence against women has increased in the province and all pro-women organizations in the province have been shut down.

“Women in Nimroz have always been oppressed, both in the previous government and in this one,” said a former employee of the province’s women’s affairs department, who maintained her identity, noting that Nimroz women could not speak out for fear of the Taliban.

Meanwhile, Habibaullah Elham, head of the Taliban’s intelligence and culture department in Nimroz, said that for women who have legal problems or want to divorce, the courts are open to men and women every day to solve problems.

Women activists in Nimroz are reporting the closure of pro-women institutions in the province, with the Taliban’s Ministry of Education announcing a few days ago that secondary schools and girls’ high schools in Afghanistan would be closed for a second time.

The group’s leader has also recently said that girls’ universities will be closed for some time due to the arrival of Ramadan.
