Taliban Ministry of Education: The issue of reopening girls schools is within the competence of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate

The Taliban’s Ministry of Education says the issue of reopening of girls’ high schools in Afghanistan is one of the group’s leadership responsibilities.
Aziz Ahmad Ryan, spokesman for the ministry, said: “The reopening of the girls’ schools for the seventh to twelfth grades is one of the competencies of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate.” Whenever the leadership of the Islamic Emirate orders the reopening, the Ministry of Education is ready to reopen all the girls’ schools on the same day.
All girls’ schools across the country were scheduled to reopen on the 23th March, but the Taliban Ministry of Education announced that all schools for female students above grades six would be closed by the ministry.
Although the Taliban’s move provoked domestic and international reactions, the group has not yet changed its decision to block girls’ schools.
