UNICEF once again expressed concern about the closure of girls’ schools in Afghanistan

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has once again expressed concern about the closure of girls’ schools in Afghanistan, saying that education in Afghanistan should not be held hostage to politics.
During a visit to girls’ primary schools in Kabul, Paloma Escudero, UNICEF’s Director of Support and Global Communications, said that girls over the sixth grade in Afghanistan had been denied access to education throughout Afghanistan for more than a month.
“As children struggle with the dual impact of Covid-19, we will do everything we can to help girls in Afghanistan continue their education,” she said. We cannot give them up.
He added: “Girls who are educated in Afghan schools are the hope of this country and they need our help.”
He further called on donor countries to continue their assistance to support girls’ education in Afghanistan.
UNICEF has previously announced that it pays 94% of teachers across Afghanistan.
Officials from the Taliban Ministry of Education also announced after meeting with the institute’s technical team that 94% of teachers across the country would be paid by UNICEF.
