UNICEF has announced the launch of a polio vaccination campaign in Afghanistan

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced the launch of a nationwide campaign to implement the polio vaccine in Afghanistan.
According to Salam Watandar, the organization has announced that in addition to the polio vaccine, vitamin A will also be distributed to children.
The campaign began today (Monday) across Afghanistan, according to the United Nations Children’s Fund.
On the other hand, Javed Hajir, the Taliban’s public health spokesman, said that 9.9 million children under the age of five are expected to receive the polio vaccine during this period.
He said: we have no more positive events; While last year was four positive events. We are close to eradicating polio, and everyone needs cooperation in this regard.
Apart from Afghanistan, Pakistan is currently struggling with polio.
Earlier, Pakistani health ministry officials said the country could eradicate polio in a joint effort with Afghanistan.
Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only countries still suffering from polio, said Faisal Sultan, Pakistan’s special assistant for health services.
He added: “With the collective efforts of the two countries, we can get rid of this virus.”
On the other hand, Pakistani health officials have stated that the country wants to cooperate in Afghanistan’s health sector.
