Sergey Lavrov: Interaction with the current government of Afghanistan is necessary for the security and stability of the region

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, referring to the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Motaghi, emphasized that without the participation of the representatives of Afghanistan, it is not possible to discuss the issues of this country.

Sergey Lavrov stated in the opening speech of the 6th meeting of the Moscow format that interaction with the authorities of the caretaker government of Afghanistan is necessary for the security and economic development of the region.

He asked the West to release the frozen assets of Afghanistan and cancel the sanctions imposed on the country’s banking sector.

Citing the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Russian Foreign Minister announced that drug cultivation in Afghanistan decreased by 95% last year.
