Chromite Processing Plant Inaugurated in Logar

A chromite processing plant has been inaugurated by the private sector in Mohammad Agha district of Logar province with an investment of $1 million.
According to officials, the plant has the capacity to process nearly 500 tons of chromite ore per day and is expected to provide employment for 50 people.
Enayatullah Salahuddin, Deputy Governor of Logar, said: “We ask the company to ensure that its budget for public services, rehabilitation, and environmental protection is spent properly so that Logar becomes more developed and attractive. This will also benefit the company itself.”
Fakhruddin Quraishi, the plant’s manager, said: “The plant has the capacity to process 50 tons of material per hour, of which 25 tons will be produced as crushed material.”
Meanwhile, officials from the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, speaking at the inauguration ceremony, emphasized the importance of professional and technical mining practices. They also urged mining companies to establish processing plants to create employment opportunities for unemployed people across the country.
Abu Bakr Amini, Director of Metallic Mines Implementation at the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, said: “We call on all companies to pay special attention to mineral processing and activate processing plants. This has many benefits: it creates jobs, enhances the technical capacity of engineers, and increases the economic value of the country’s mineral resources.”
Abdul Latif Khalid, Head of Inspection at the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, added: “The biggest challenge facing Afghanistan’s mining sector is the unprofessional extraction of minerals, which reduces both the quality and lifespan of mineral deposits.”
At the same time, several workers employed at the plant welcomed the new job opportunities and called on other investors to invest within the country to help create employment for unemployed young people.
Mohammad Jawad, one of the workers, said: “I am very happy that employment opportunities have been created for us in our own country. Not only I, but all of my colleagues are very pleased.”
According to the Logar Department of Mines and Petroleum, extraction activities are currently underway at five chromite mines across the province.
