Afghan Commerce Ministry Delegation Meets Business Community in China

A delegation from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, led by Shahabuddin Saqib, the ministry’s Deputy Minister for Finance and Administration, met with a number of Afghan businesspeople residing in China during its official visit.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, the meeting was held to support members of Afghanistan’s private sector based in China. The delegation reviewed the traders’ challenges and concerns and reaffirmed its commitment to cooperation and addressing their needs.
Economic analyst Qutbuddin Yaqubi said: “Strong relations between governments and the business community can play a vital role in promoting transparency and encouraging investment, particularly at a time when Afghanistan needs greater support for both domestic investors and Afghans abroad who are interested in investing in the country’s economic infrastructure.”
Meanwhile, the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment said a 21-member delegation of Afghan businesspeople, led by chamber board member Mohammad Haroon Ludin, also participated in the Chengdu Machinery Exhibition in China.
Economic analyst Abdul Nasir Reshtia told: “Such visits and meetings are highly valuable. The more dialogue and engagement take place, the greater the opportunity to identify practical solutions to existing challenges.”
The visit comes after the opening of the China–Eurasia Expo 2026 in Urumqi, where an Afghan trade delegation also took part.
