US Media: US CIA Director meets with Abdul Ghani Baradar

US media reported that the CIA director had a secret meeting with the Taliban’s political deputy in Kabul.

The Washington Post reported that CIA Director William Burns had a secret meeting with Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban’s political deputy.

“What seems ridiculous is that this is the first conversation between a high-ranking US government official and a Taliban leader,” the report said.

The newspaper wrote on the subject of their discussion that the date of the withdrawal of American troops and aid to the Afghans may have been the subject of their discussion.

“It was the brother who was arrested 11 years ago by CIA and Pakistani agents and then spent eight years in prison,” the newspaper said. “After his release, he negotiated with the United States in Qatar.”

But the CIA has not commented on the meeting.
