UNICEF: 8 children died last week after a bomb exploded in Afghanistan

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says that during the last week, 8 children have lost their lives in Afghanistan due to the explosion of unexploded ordnance.
In a tweet, UNICEF emphasized that unexploded ordnance has a devastating effect on children in Afghanistan, writing that these children have died while playing with unexploded ordnance and collecting metal scraps for sale.
This organization added that in 2022, more than 700 children have been killed or maimed due to the explosion of unexploded ordnance and remnants of war in Afghanistan.
UNICEF said it is increasing mine risk education efforts to educate children, caregivers and communities, and is providing psychosocial support to families of children affected by unexploded ordnance blasts.
UNICEF has previously expressed concern about the increase in the number of children killed due to the explosion of unexploded ordnance left over from the war in Afghanistan, and has asked everyone in Afghanistan to adhere to their responsibilities and focus their efforts on clearing mines and unexploded ordnance left over from the war.
