Citizens Demand Better Healthcare Facilities in Provinces

The Balkh Directorate of Public Health has reported that nearly 2,500 patients from Balkh and other provinces visit Abu Ali Sina Regional Hospital daily for medical treatment.

According to officials, in addition to treating patients, up to 50 surgeries are performed at this hospital each day.

Kamal Khan Zadran, the spokesperson for the Balkh Directorate of Public Health, stated: “Approximately 2,500 patients visit the regional hospital daily, and up to 50 minor and major surgeries are performed there.”

Mohammad Yousuf Hotak, a doctor at Abu Ali Sina Regional Hospital, said: “Patients from the provinces of Faryab, Jawzjan, Sar-e Pol, Samangan, and various districts travel here for treatment.”

Many citizens who have brought their patients to this hospital are urging the authorities to equip hospitals in other provinces and districts to reduce the burden on Balkh’s healthcare system.

Mohammad Khavari, a resident of Badghis, traveled 12 hours on difficult roads to bring his patient to Balkh.

He stated that his patient first contracted measles and later developed pneumonia, requiring hospitalization at Abu Ali Sina Regional Hospital for the past five days.

Mohammad Khavari said: “When I arrived at this hospital, I saw a large number of patients admitted. My patient, who has measles, was also admitted, and the staff assisted us as much as they could.”

Besides Balkh, most of the patients at this hospital come from Faryab, Sar-e Pol, Badghis, Jawzjan, Badakhshan, and Baghlan provinces.

Asadullah Mohammadi, a patient’s guardian from Faryab, said: “The services provided at this hospital are excellent, and it has separate departments for various treatments.”

Najibullah, a patient’s guardian from Balkh, said: “The healthcare services here are good, but our main problem is the lack of medicine.”

According to information from the Balkh Directorate of Public Health, in addition to the Abu Ali Sina Regional Hospital, healthcare services in the districts of Balkh province have also improved.

Every day, a large number of patients from Faryab, Sar-e Pol, Badghis, Jawzjan, Balkh, Badakhshan, and Baghlan travel to Abu Ali Sina Regional Hospital for treatment.
