Muttaqi Expresses Gratitude for Qatar’s Help in Foreign Relations
Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting minister of foreign affairs, and Mirdef bin Ali Al-Qashouti, the chargé d’affaires at the embassy of Qatar in Kabul, discussed bilateral relations between Kabul and Doha.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Muttaqi said that recent developments in relations with the United States are important and he expressed appreciation for Qatar’s cooperation in this regard.
Zia Ahmad Takal, head of public relations at the foreign ministry, said about the meeting: “The Foreign Minister called recent progress with the US significant and thanked the Qatari government for its cooperation. Muttaqi described the relationship between Afghanistan and Qatar as growing and expressed hope for further development.”
Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate’s ambassador to Doha, Suhail Shaheen, described Qatar’s role in expanding the Islamic Emirate’s relations with other countries as beneficial.
Some political analysts view Qatar’s role in ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan as significant.
“Qatar has had and continues to have deep ties with the Islamic Emirate. This country can provide favorable conditions in the field of foreign policy to enable global engagement with the Islamic Emirate, and it can also play a role in Afghanistan’s peace, stability, and development,” said Fazl Rahman Oria, a political analyst.
Qatar, as the main host of peace negotiations between the Islamic Emirate and the former Afghan government, has also played a key role in the Islamic Emirate’s talks with the United States and other Western countries. These negotiations, held in Doha, led to the 2020 peace agreement between the Islamic Emirate and the US.
