3 Industrial Parks in Helmand Planned to Support Business: Officials

Local officials in Helmand said that three industrial parks are being built in the province to support industrialists.

They said that once the construction of these industrial parks is completed, industrial activities in Helmand will also increase.

Nazaruddin Ahmadi, the deputy director of industry and commerce in Helmand, told : “We have allocated areas in three locations in Helmand for the construction of industrial zones, and soon we will hand them over to investors to strengthen industrial activities.”

Rahmatullah Nazari, the head of the Chamber of Industry and Mines in Helmand, said: “We have over 150 large manufacturing factories in Helmand that produce various products. There are also smaller factories, but the larger ones are more active.”

Khaleqdad Shahi, the head of a flour mill factory in Helmand, stated that the factory, which cost 31 million afghani, has recently been built in the industrial parks of Helmand and produces 140 tons of flour every 24 hours.

Khaleqdad Shahi said: “This factory has been built with an investment of 31 million afghani and produces 140 tons of domestic wheat flour every 24 hours.”

Currently, a large number of people are working in the industrial parks of Helmand province. They say that the development of industrial parks and investment in the province can reduce the unemployment rate.

Mohammad Rahim, a resident of Helmand, said: “If such investments are made, our skilled people will be employed, and job opportunities will also be provided for migrants and other people.”

Mohammad Kargar, a worker in one of the factories in Helmand, said: “If job opportunities are created here for people, no one will go abroad for work; however, more opportunities need to be created for investors within the country.”

According to local officials, there are currently 150 manufacturing factories operating in the industrial parks of Helmand, most of which are engaged in cotton processing.
