The Taliban attack on the city of Faizabad in Badakhshan was repulsed

Security sources in Badakhshan report that Taliban fighters repelled an attack on Faizabad city in the province.

Badakhshan police spokesman Sanaullah Rouhani said that Taliban fighters attacked the town of Faizabad from several directions yesterday evening, which was met with strong resistance from security and defense forces, and their attack was repulsed.

Mr Rouhani added that Taliban fighters had suffered heavy casualties in clashes with security forces and that the rest of the group’s fighters had fled the area.

Mr Rouhani did not provide exact casualties for the Taliban or security forces in the clashes.
