Kazakhstan: We do not recognize the Taliban

Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry has stated that it does not recognize the Taliban.

Kazakhstan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Akan Rahmatuddin has said that after the Taliban took over Afghanistan, officials in the country have stated that they do not recognize the Taliban government.

“We do not recognize the Taliban. Yesterday, the State Department officially issued a statement on the situation in Afghanistan, which was published in the local media. We are closely following the situation in Afghanistan,” he said.

Meanwhile, a military plane took 42 passengers out of Afghanistan today, including employees of the Kazakh embassy.

The 42 are said to have included 14 Kyrgyz citizens and a Russian citizen.
