Breshna extended electricity imports from four countries to Afghanistan for another year

The Afghan Electricity Company announced that it has extended electricity imports from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran and Turkmenistan for another year to address electricity problems in the country.

The company said in a statement that four electricity extension contracts had been signed with Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Turkmenistan, and that the agreement would provide 4.8 billion kilowatts of electricity from Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and 800 million kilowatts. Import from Iran.

The company said that according to the signed contracts, a total of $ 260 million worth of electricity from the four countries will enter Afghanistan in 2022.

According to the company, this amount of imported electricity is to be distributed to 24 provinces of the country.

According to the electricity company, 30 percent of Afghanistan’s electricity is currently supplied from domestic sources and the other 70 percent from neighboring countries.
