The United States is providing about $ 300 million in aid to Afghanistan

The United States has announced that it will provide approximately $ 300 million in assistance to people in need in Afghanistan.

White House National Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horn said in a statement that $ 308 million in US aid had been provided to people in need in Afghanistan and that it would be used for through independent organizations in Afghanistan.

He added that the aid will be used to provide shelter, health services, winter aid and emergency food aid to people in need.

However, after the Taliban took control, the cessation of international aid, the drought, and the freezing of Afghanistan’s assets have put the country on the brink of crisis.

The World Food Program (WFP) said in a December report that more than 24 million people in Afghanistan are food insecure and that more than 90 percent of Afghans are in need of food aid.
